Supporting Multicultural Community Radio
A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will boost community broadcasting for Victoria’s multicultural communities.
We’ll provide a $80,000 grant to the Ethnic Community Broadcasting Association of Victoria – known to listeners as 3ZZZ – to continue to give a voice to multi communities, broadcasting in their own languages.
3ZZZ is Australia’s largest multilingual community radio station. It broadcasts to over 60 language and community groups with 100 programs, 400 volunteers, 3,000 members and 456,000 listeners every year.
The funding will help the non-profit organisation continue playing a vital role in keeping multicultural communities informed, engaged and connected.
Victorians come from more than 200 counties, speak 260 languages and follow 135 different faiths This funding will make a lasting difference to Victoria’s multicultural communities, ensuring they are able to access news and information in formats and languages that meet their needs.
Labor has always supported strong and diverse voices in the media as a foundation of democracy.
In June, the Labor Government delivered a grant of almost $2.7 million over three years for Australian Associated Press.
Since coming to government, Labor has invested millions in multicultural media outlets across Victoria.
Only Labor will support 3ZZZ – supporting multicultural broadcasters and communities.
