Investing In Victorian African Communities

A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will invest in Victoria’s African Communities Action Plan helping to ensure Victorians of African heritage have the education, employment and training opportunities they deserve.

It doesn’t matter where you’re from, what you look like, what you believe or what language you speak – in Victoria, we’re proud of our cultural diversity.

A $3 million investment into the Action Plan will build on the significant work of Victoria’s African communities delivered in partnership with our Labor Government.

The African Communities Action Plan is the first of its kind, developed by and for African communities in partnership with Government to address issues and to improve the wellbeing of all Victorians of African heritage.

This announcement forms part of Labor’s promise to deliver initiatives that support multicultural and multifaith communities.

Labor will strengthen the Racial and Religious Tolerance Act 2001 to make it easier to prosecute individuals who incite hatred or bigotry.

Labor is backing Victoria’s African communities – not just with words, but with action.

Victoria’s African communities know well Matthew Guy’s Liberal’s record when it comes to playing politics with our state's multicultural communities. You can’t trust them to stand with Victorian African communities.

Only Labor is doing what matters – supporting our many diverse communities and promoting a vibrant multicultural society.

Quotes attributable to Premier Daniel Andrews

“Labor is doing what matters – supporting our multicultural and multifaith communities and celebrating diversity in our state.”

Quotes attributable to Minister for Housing Danny Pearson

“Only Labor will stand up for Victoria’s African communities.”

“When Matthew Guy was Opposition Leader, he divided Victorians and used African communities as a political football to win an election. You can’t trust the Matthew Guy’s Liberals to care – they create division in our state.”
