A Stronger Bendigo Queer Arts Festival
A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will support the Bendigo Queer Arts Festival to keep bringing LGBTQIA+ people together and make regional Victoria more inclusive and queer-friendly.
We’ll provide a $50,000 grant to help them continue to produce and enable LGBTQIA+ arts and cultural events, including the Bendigo Pride Festival.
For years, the Bendigo Queer Arts Festival has supported hundreds of local creatives and delivered fantastic local events like the Bendigo Queer Film Festival and the Queer Country Arts Exhibition.
Funding from a Labor Government will make sure they are well-equipped to continue to celebrate and support the LGBTQIA+ community in Central Victoria.
It builds on the massive investments in community support already delivered by the Labor Government, ensuring neighbourhoods have accessible wellbeing and support services close to home.
This includes funding for vital community groups like the Harcourt Progress Association and the Castlemaine State Festival.
In sharp contrast, when it comes to delivering the vital support that people in our community rely on, the Liberals can’t be trusted. Instead, their policy of cuts and closures would leave locals behind.
Only Labor will back the community organisations that keep our community strong – because only Labor will do what matters.
Quote attributable to Labor Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards
“The Bendigo Queer Arts Festival is a community group with a big heart – giving everything they have to support LGBTQIA+ arts and cultural events in Central Victoria. That’s why we’re going to make sure they have what they need to keep supporting our community.”
