Stronger Legal Advocacy for Mooee Valley

A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will support the Moonee Valley Legal Service to continue protecting and standing up for the rights of the community.

We’ll provide a $100,000 grant, helping the community legal centre provide free legal advice, information, education and referrals for those who need it.

The legal service – which began as the volunteer-run Essendon Community Legal Service nearly four decades ago – supports our community in matters such as infringements, criminal law, family law and family violence.

Funding from a Labor Government will ensure the legal service is well-equipped to continue to empower our local community – especially vulnerable and disadvantaged people – and get the support they need when they need it.

It builds on the massive investments in community support already delivered by the Labor Government, ensuring neighbourhoods have accessible wellbeing and support services close to home.

This includes $6.5 million for community legal centres in the last Budget to keep helping vulnerable Victorians navigate the justice system and provide advocacy for all.

In sharp contrast, when it comes to delivering the vital support that people in our community rely on, Matthew Guy’s Liberals can’t be trusted. Their policy of cuts and closures will leave locals behind.

Only Labor will back the community organisations that keep our community strong – because only Labor will do what matters.
