Great Schools For Armstrong Creek And Mount Duneed

A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will make sure students in Armstrong Creek and Mount Duneed have the best facilities to learn and grow in, investing in planning for a new secondary college in the growing region.

Premier Daniel Andrews and Labor Member for South Barwon Darren Cheeseman announced $1 million in funding to begin the process to deliver another great new school for local students and their families – building on the Labor Government’s recently-opened Mirripoa Primary School in 2020 and Oberon High School in 2021.

Only a Labor Government will make sure local families have access to the best school facilities – supporting kids to do their best in the classroom and beyond.

Since coming to government, we have invested more than $12.8 billion in building and upgrading schools in every corner of the state.

We’re delivering on our promise to build 100 new schools by 2026 with 75 already funded or opened, and we’ve invested in more than 1,850 upgrades to schools since coming to government.

That means hundreds of thousands of students are learning in more modern classrooms, science labs and libraries and benefitting from better school gyms and sports grounds.

In South Barwon, we’ve invested in new or upgraded facilities at Highton Primary School, Bellaire Primary School, Mount Duneed Regional Primary School, St Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School, Grovedale West Primary School, Nazareth School, Iona College and Geelong Lutheran College.

We’ve invested more than $400 million in education, training and skills in the Geelong region with new and upgraded schools, our maintenance blitzes and making our schools more inclusive.

And by building and upgrading schools across the state, we’ve supported more than 17,400 jobs in construction alone.

We’ve invested more in student mental health and wellbeing than any other jurisdiction in Australia, putting mental health workers into every government school.

We’ve made sure every child has the chance to participate in the activities that make school fun, through the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund.

And we’ve reformed the senior secondary school system, combining VCE and VCAL – ensuring every young Victorian can get the education they need for the job they want.

Matthew Guy’s Liberals can’t be trusted when it comes to the future of our kids. When they were last in government, they cut more than $1 billion from education, further cementing their legacy of cuts and school closures.

Only a re-elected Labor Government will deliver the classrooms and learning spaces our kids deserve – because only Labor will do what matters.
