Suburban Roads Blitz to Get Families Home Sooner and Safer

A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will deliver a major upgrade to three key outer suburban roads across Melbourne, cutting travel times and making travel safer for local families.

We’ll invest $174 million across three critical intersections in Melbourne – in Bacchus Marsh, Cranbourne and Point Cook – to improve safety, make traffic flow more smoothly for road users and improve connections for local pedestrians and cyclists.

An investment of $79 million will deliver an upgrade to Point Cook Road – with a new and improved intersection at Central Avenue.

A further $25 million will replace the roundabout at the intersection of Grant Street, Griffith Street and Station Street intersection in Bacchus Marsh with traffic lights that are timed and connected to the nearby level crossing.

The intersection at Thompsons Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road in Clyde North will also be redeveloped – with traffic lights installed to make the busy crossing safer for pedestrians, and help traffic move through the area more quickly.

This builds on the Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road upgrade Labor is already delivering – with works already underway as part of the $2.5 billion Suburban Roads Upgrade.

Labor is doing what matters – delivering road safety upgrades for communities in every corner of our state. Since 2014, we’ve invested $35 billion to expand our road network and deliver important improvements, making our roads safer for every Victorian.

We’ve delivered key safety upgrades including installing traffic lights, roundabouts and better pedestrian crossings in our suburbs – only Labor will continue to invest in the smooth, safe roads Victorians deserve.
