Improving the Foreshore for Campers in Capel Sound

Campers and local families in Capel Sound will enjoy an improved foreshore thanks to a re-elected Andrews Labor Government.

We’ll provide a $500,000 grant to the Capel Sound Foreshore Reserves Committee of Management to upgrade the campgrounds reserve, to help campers and locals can better enjoy one of the Peninsula’s best beaches.

The Reserve has been a vital source of tourism for the local community for decades, bringing families down to enjoy all the best of what the Peninsula has to offer.

Camping and recreation in Victoria’s parks and forests contributes $2.1 billion per year to our economy and supports 20,400 jobs.

Since 2018, the Labor Government’s Great Outdoors program has halved campground fees in state and national parks, upgraded 24 campgrounds and built 11 new campgrounds.

We’ve also invested a further $6.6 million in Camping and Caravan Grants to 64 regional Committees of Management to improve their visitors’ experiences.

Only a re-elected Labor Government will help upgrade the Capel Sound Foreshore to help ensure this vital community asset can be enjoyed for families and locals for years to come – because only Labor will do what matters.
