Delivering Safer Roads in Port Melbourne

A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will deliver a safer road network in Port Melbourne for students, pedestrians, road users and cyclists.

We’ll invest $1.5 million for a traffic action plan for roads around the recently opened Port Melbourne Secondary College and to deliver works towards improving traffic safety around the college and JL Murphy Reserve. This traffic action plan and works program will focus on improvements to infrastructure, signage and pedestrian access.

With more housing and jobs development planned in the Fishermans Bend area – including a new primary school – Labor understands that safe access across our roads is important for our local community. That’s why we’ll invest to improve local road safety – ensuring students and road users can get to where they need to go more safely.

Since coming to government, we’ve invested more than $1.6 billion in road safety as part of our Big Build. We’re delivering thousands of kilometres of new safety infrastructure, upgrading dozens of dangerous intersections, and delivering stronger laws and the latest technology to combat dangerous driving.

Better yet – these investments have created thousands of Victorian jobs.

When it comes to creating jobs and building much-needed infrastructure, the Liberals can’t be trusted. They’ve already promised to “audit” much-needed local investments – Liberal code for cuts and closures.

Only Labor will keep building to get Victorians home sooner and safer – because only Labor will do what matters.

Quotes attributable to Labor Candidate for Albert Park Nina Taylor

“As our community grows and we continue to invest in new and upgraded schools, Labor will ensure our local roads are safe for school students, cyclists, road users and pedestrians.”

“Labor has invested record amounts in new schools, community sports facilities and road safety upgrades – and we’ll also make sure that students, park users and pedestrians can get to where they need to go safely.”
