Delivering Great Local Schools for Glen Waverley

A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will make sure students in Forest Hill, Blackburn South and Burwood East get a great education, delivering a major upgrade at Forest Hill College

We’ll invest $10.9 million to upgrade Blocks A, D and M – ensuring local kids have the learning spaces they deserve.

Only a Labor Government will make sure local families have access to the best school facilities – supporting kids to do their best in the classroom, and beyond.

Since coming to government, we have invested more than $12.8 billion in building and upgrading schools in every corner of the state.

We’re delivering on our promise to build 100 new schools by 2026 with 75 already funded or opened, and we’ve delivered more than 1,850 upgrades to schools since coming to government.

That means hundreds of thousands of students are learning in more modern classrooms, science labs and libraries and benefitting from better school gyms and sports grounds.

In Glen Waverley, we’ve invested in new or upgraded facilities at Brentwood Secondary College, Burwood East Primary School, Camelot Rise Primary School, Glenallen School, Glendal Primary School, Glen Waverley Primary School, Glen Waverley South Primary School, Highvale Primary School, Highvale Secondary College, Jells Park Primary School, Mount View Primary School, Parkmore Primary School, Vermont Secondary College, Vermont South Special School, Weeden Heights Primary School and Wheelers Hill Primary School.

And by building and upgrading schools across the state, we’ve supported more than 17,400 jobs in construction alone.

We’ve invested more in student mental health and wellbeing than any other jurisdiction in Australia, putting mental health workers into every government school.

We’ve made sure every child has the chance to participate in the activities that make school fun, through the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund.

And we’ve reformed the senior secondary school system, combining VCE and VCAL– ensuring every young Victorian can get the education they need for the job they want.

Matthew Guy’s Liberals can’t be trusted when it comes to the future of our kids. When they were last in government, they cut more than $1 billion from education, further cementing their legacy of cuts and school closures.

Only a re-elected Labor Government will deliver the classrooms and learning spaces our kids deserve – because only Labor will do what matters.
