Cooling Our Public Housing Towers
A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will make sure residents of our city’s public housing towers stay cool in summer by installing air conditioners in public housing towers.
Labor will invest $141 million to install air conditioners in our public housing tower dwellings which are home to over 13,000 Victorians across more than 40 towers. These upgrades will make life more comfortable for tenants and improve their health and wellbeing particularly over summer.
We want to make sure every Victorian is comfortable in their own home, especially as our summers get hotter.
This investment builds on the Home Heating and upgrades program we are delivering in community housing, ensuring tenants stay warm in winter too.
Labor is backing Victoria’s public housing tenants – not just with words, but with action.
We’re not wasting a moment getting on with delivering the country’s most ambitious social and affordable housing program. Our $5.3 billion Big Housing Build and other investments will deliver more than 16,000 homes and support around 10,000 jobs per year over four years.
Matthew Guy’s Liberals can’t be trusted to care about public housing tenants. The last time the Liberals were in government they cut hundreds of millions of dollars from public housing.
Only Labor will support public housing residents, investing in our public housing – because only Labor will do what matters.
