Supporting the Fitzroy Homework Club
A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will provide the Young Assets Foundation’s Fitzroy Homework Club with a $50,000 grant to continue to support young people in our community.
The Young Assets Foundation’s Fitzroy Homework Club provides high-school and early university students a place to meet, learn and connect with other young people.
For many reasons, some students may need some extra support outside of the classroom. That’s why the Labor Government is backing the Fitzroy Homework Club, ensuring local young people can be their best.
Over the past eight years, the Labor Government has proudly invested in every government primary and secondary school in Richmond, ensuring students have a great classroom.
Since coming to government, we have invested more than $12.8 billion in building and upgrading schools in every corner of the state – including at Collingwood College locally.
We’re delivering on our commitment to build 100 new schools by 2026 with 75 already funded or opened and we’ve delivered more than 1,850 upgrades to schools.
That means students are learning in more modern classrooms, science labs and libraries and using better facilities at schools like gyms and sports grounds.
We’ve invested more in student mental health and wellbeing than any other jurisdiction in Australia, putting mental health workers into every government school.
We’ve made sure every child has the chance to participate in the activities that make school fun, through the Camps Sports and Excursions Fund.
And we’ve reformed the senior secondary school system, combining VCE and VCAL from next year – ensuring every young Victorian can get the education they need for the job they want.
