Investing in the Whittlesea Show and Whittlesea Community
A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will support the Whittlesea Show, ensuring it continues to be a significant boost to our local economy, and bring joy to families for years to come.
Labor will provide a $50,000 grant to the Whittlesea Agricultural Society, so they can continue to put on another blockbuster event for the whole community.
Agricultural shows are the cornerstone of Victoria’s agriculture sector, building community spirit by celebrating primary producers in a fun, entertaining, educational and inclusive environment.
The Whittlesea Show initially began as a fair in 1859 and has now grown into one of the best and much loved shows in Victoria – and now, with this vital investment, it can go from strength to strength.
We recently delivered $250,000 to upgrade the lights for the Whittlesea Football and Netball Club the home of the Whittlesea Show, in addition to the $18,000 in 2018 to improve the club facilities.
Only Labor will invest in the Whittlesea community, whether it’s for the show, schools or the health services the community deserves.
A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will invest $11.7 million to upgrade and modernise Whittlesea Secondary College – giving local students and teachers the best learning spaces.
Work is already underway on the new and much needed Whittlesea Community Hospital – which Matthew Guy’s Liberals have promised to scrap even though construction has commenced.
