A Stronger Community Cultural Centre in the Dandenong Ranges

A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will support cultural not-for-profit Burrinja to keep building the local community through art.

We’ll provide a $50,000 grant to help them continue to develop new, experiential and distinctive creative programs, whilst providing continued support for the incredible art already being created in the Hills.

For years Burrinja has been a vibrant community cultural centre in the Dandenong Ranges with a clear, creative and community-based vision for the region.

Funding from a Labor Government will make sure they are well-equipped to continue cultivating the creative talent of the region, including engaging parts of the community that don’t traditionally engage with art.

The support will help local families and members of our community access art and culture, including through Burrinja’s focus on embedding First Nations culture in its programs.

The centre encompasses multiple gallery spaces, includes a world-class collection of First Nations and oceanic art, a theatre, black box space and kids ‘stay and play’ art activities.

Only a re-elected Labor Government will back the community organisations that keep our community strong – because only Labor will do what matters.
