A Better Surf Life Saving Club for Port Melbourne
A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will install a lift and upgrade the toilet block at the Port Melbourne Surf Life Saving Club, making our beaches safer and more accessible for families in Albert Park.
Our investment of $250,000 will better meet the needs of club members and the community and improve safety for beachgoers.
Surf lifesaving clubs are the beating heart of beach communities – they’re a place for locals and visitors to come together and hardworking members and volunteers make our beaches safer for everyone.
There are more than 960 members at the Port Melbourne Surf Life Saving Club, including more than 240 Nippers and their facilities need to grow with them.
Each summer members perform more than 2000 preventative actions, 60 first aids, 5 rescues, 17,159 beach attendances, and 4,607 patrol hours – protecting kids and families in our beautiful bay.
These upgrades will make the club more accessible for members of the club and our community, who they support every day of the year.
We’ll make sure lifesavers at Port Melbourne Surf Life Saving Club have the modern facilities they need, delivering the surf lifesaving club Albert Park deserves – because only Labor will do what matters.
